New for 2009: Popular classes depicted with GREEN lettering will now have 1st and 2nd place trophies!

Here is a list of mods for each class category (Street, Mild and Wild) that we will be using to help determine class placement. These are just guidelines to help us out and to give you an idea of the types of mods we will look for in each category.

We are doing this to keep the competition fair. If someone comes in bagged, shaved, interior painted and custom paint and wants to be placed in Mild, they will be bumped up to Wild. Again, to be fair.

2008 Show Review

When you think of where to find an abundance of asphalt-draggin’, reflector-collecting mini trucks, the state of Michigan is probably not at the top of the list. Don’t tell the members of Oaktown Trucks. Their annual Custom Rides for Saving Lives Car & Truck Show brings out some of the very best the state has to offer, all for a good cause.

Started in 2005 as a way to help raise money for the American Cancer Society, the show was so well received that it has now become an annual event, getting bigger and better every year. As the name of the show implies, custom vehicles converge on the town of Lake Orion, Michigan to show their stuff and compete for some unique custom trophies supplied by Victory Graphix.

Local clubs were put to the test with a tug-o-war and the lowest of the low competed in a limbo contest. There was also a silent auction to help raise additional funds for the cause. Some of the high ticket items included a set of Barely Legal upper and lower control arms, an Air Lift Digital Ride Controller and a custom airbrushed tank painted by the one and only, Mickey Harris.

At the end of the day, awards were given away in 30+ classes, including some specialty awards. Oaktown Trucks was able to again make a sizeable donation to the Cancer Society. To date, they have raised just over $6,000.
